Grades 1+, $160; FREE for After-School Club Members

Wednesdays | 1/7/15 – 3/11/15, 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Students learn the principles of stop-motion animation, storytelling and camera work while they work in pairs to make a movie. We provide all the equipment, props and expertise, so students just need to bring their creativity.

Tuesdays | 1/6/15 – 3/10/15, 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Kids create their own tracks while learning the fundamentals of music production. No previous musical training required!

3D Printing and Design3D Modeling and Printing

Grades 4+, $160; FREE for After-School Club Members

Fridays, 1/9/15 – 3/13/15, 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm

From designing a product that will revolutionize the world to modeling a figurine of their cat, kids learn to create 3D models like the pros! Class includes one FREE 3D print.

Grades 4+, $160; FREE for After-School Club Members

Saturdays, 1/10/15 – 3/21/15, 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Using MIT’s App Inventor, students will learn to program an app from start to finish. Tablets will be provided or students can bring their own. No previous programming experience necessary!

unity3D Video Game Design with Unity

Grades 4+, $170; FREE for After-School Club Members

Saturdays, 1/10/15-3/21/15, 11:15 am – 12:30 pm

Using the free game engine, Unity, students will create their own 3D video games. Completed games can be played on both PC and Mac computers, and can even be played online. Beginners and experienced game makers welcome!

Grades 3+, $160; FREE for After-School Club Members

Sundays, 1/15/15 – 3/22/15, 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Kids learn to create character sprites, design levels, and program game mechanics while they learn the fundamentals of object oriented programming. All students work at their own pace, making this a great workshop for both new and more experienced game makers. Don’t tell the kids, but while creating the games and learning programming, they will also be learning math, geometry, design and logic. Games can be played at home (MS Windows-only), and software used in class is available for free download (MAC and PC) for those who want to continue their game-making skills at home.

after-school-3LEGO Robotics (NXT)

Grades 3+, $170; FREE for After-School Club Members

Sundays, 1/11/15 – 3/22/15, 12:30pm – 1:30pm

Students will use LEGO Mindstorms NXT components to build and program models of machines and devices that operate automatically or by remote control. Projects may include a drawbridge, robotic arm, pinball machine, crane, car, and others. Working with expert instructors and detailed building plans, students will complete a different project in each class. Photos of all their creations will be available after the final class. Note:LEGO projects will not be taken home.
