Event Details
This innovative program for students in 4th and 5th grades is a unique and powerful way to understand key concepts of both math and computing by using the engaging power of MIT Scratch. Students are challenged to code programs that demonstrate and solve math problems, leading to a richer, deeper understanding of both math and computer science.
Computing concepts covered: Logical reasoning, Problem solving, Repetition, Program design, Debugging, Algorithms.
Math concepts covered: Patterns, rotation, angles, coordinates, symmetry, multiplication, translation, transformation, sequences, positive and negative numbers
This program is part 1 in a series of 6 consecutive programs covering critical math and computing concepts while also building excitement about these important fields. The 6-part series uses the power of Scratch to apply and learn critical math concepts.
