GRADES 2-4 (Fall 2022)

PREREQUISITE Basic keyboard skills and ability to use a mouse are recommended

LEVEL Beginner–Intermediate

Come learn the building blocks of STEM in one of our most popular programs!

Campers will explore 3D Modeling & Printing, Coding Concepts through Video Game Design, and Stop-Motion Animation. Throughout the week, campers can choose to dig deeper or continue to experiment as they create several space-themed projects, such as a digitally-animated movie, a playable video game, or a 3D print of an original object — all of which they can take home. Add a second week of camp and experience the engineering design process by revisiting your projects and improving your designs!

Combine this camp with our Tech & Design Exploration: Storytelling camp to further expand your STEM knowledge.

A Typical Day at Camp

The flow of a typical week at our award-winning summer camps is awesomely diverse and packed with big fun.

On the first day of camp, campers engage in some initial, getting-to-know-you activities and circle-up time with instructors. Our 8:1 student-teacher ratio ensures that kids get the appropriate welcome and attention in order to feel comfortable and confident in our camp environment. They’ll get acquainted with guidelines and safety measures, watch tech demonstrations, and be introduced to a wide range of tech options for exploration.

After exploring the project options on their particular tech path, and with encouragement from our talented, knowledgeable staff, campers will dive into subjects that spark their interest and begin to realize their passion and emerging skills.

We incorporate outside activities and break times (including lunch, of course) throughout the day to balance the time spent in front of computer screens. Depending on our location, campers will walk to a park, work off some energy on a playground, or get involved with a game.

By mid-week, campers will either be focusing on a specific tech path—to tackle larger, more sophisticated projects—or continuing to explore the creative options available on their individual tech paths. Kids can also collaborate, learn from friends, and share ideas with each other.

At week’s end, our rock star campers will show off their projects to the community and parents, and get continued access to their project or game files to keep the BIG FUN going long after their camp experience is over!

Campers work hard and play hard when designing cool video games.
Campers build and program a robot to carry out commands.
Getting outside and engaging in physical activities is an essential, healthy way to balance the day. Plus, it’s summer!
Two campers enjoy the collaborative process of producing a short film.
Campers soak up the satisfaction of completed projects and a tech job well-done!

–Elvira in Newton

My 8 year old daughter attended summer camp at the Acton location. I was impressed by the staff, who obviously knew their tech but were also very skilled at working with children for an extended day (not just a class). A factor not to be taken for granted!

–Alene in Ayer

My son was so excited to be making movies. Even now that the class is over he is using his camera and windows movie maker to keep using the skills he learned. He is very proud and excited at what he learned!
