Tech & Design and Minecraft Weeks in March
STEM enrichment for kids who have school vacation break in March
Empow Studios March Vacation Weeks are for kids to design, build, and code empowering projects using their creativity and imagination. Kids are introduced to the number of tools and technologies they can tinker with during the week, and our teachers guide them to completing a project that they are proud to share with family and friends.
Tech & Design Week runs from March 13-17. Kids can create projects in Video Game Design, Robotics, Animation, 3D Modeling & Printing, Music Production, Video Production, and more. Whether it’s building a working guitar made of LEGO MINDSTORMS, designing an action-packed video game to challenge friends with, or creating an animated mini-movie, the options are limitless and the learning doesn’t stop! We teach the nuts & bolts behind these subjects, and students use their imagination to make their project come alive.
Minecraft Week runs from March 20-24. Whether you’re just starting out your explorations or you already know your way around creepers, it’s a great way to learn and excel within the platform of Minecraft. We start by introducing students to Redstone, a special kind of element that mimics electricity almost perfectly. Campers of nearly any skill level can have fun building circuit boards and logic gates. As they master Redstone skills, we offer challenges that teach key concepts in programming, design, electrical engineering, and architecture, all while using teamwork and social skills. It’s the perfect blend of fun, learning, and creativity.
Both of these weeks are open to kids entering grades 2-8.
What happens during the week?
Mon: Team-building games and welcome activities to make new students comfortable. Then, teacher demos & brainstorming to inspire project ideas.
Tue: Students start working on individual and small-group projects. Mini-lesson, tutorials, and demos are held throughout the day.
Wed: Projects start coming to life! Kids learn to blend technologies by composing music and filming/editing video for existing projects.
Thu: Wrap up projects by adding any post-production, packaging, or final design work.
Fri: Students complete their projects, and explore new technologies, fun, and games to end the week on a good note.
It’s required that each student has at least one snack packed.

A typical day during our March Vacation Week
8:00am – 8:30am Drop-off, introductions, and special activities. Kids play games and get comfortable with friends, staff, and the Studio.
8:30am – 10:00am Project time – session #1. Students work on projects at their own pace, guided by our expert staff. Kids can choose to work individually with help from staff, or work with friends in a group project. This is where kids build their robots, design video games, and film unique animations!
10:00am – 10:30am Snack time and technology demos. We introduce new technologies that students may have not worked with in the past, like music production for their video game, movie, or animation.
10:30am – 12:00pm Project time – session #2. Kids fuel their brains and start bringing new ideas into their projects. Staff makes sure a student’s day ends on a good note so they can pick up where they started with confidence and excitement.
March Vacation Weeks are a week-long program, and cost $390/wk.
